Now that my kiddo is back in school I wanted to take the time to thank you for the wonderful portrait that you did of my horse, Gift. I am not sure how to write this without getting too choked up, but you perfectly captured him. He was such a scamp, and a loyal companion for me since I was 8 years old. I am not sure anyone can explain what spending 30 years with a horse contains, all the emotions, joy, freedom, escape, perfect harmony of movement, frustration, breakthroughs, learning to love and care deeply for someone other than yourself, the head bump to your chest that just lets you know it’s all right.
I am a painter myself, so let me pay some homage to your work. The composition is fantastic, I feel like he is giving me one last look before he goes. Your proportions are dead on, I love that. It looks just like him, even down to the nose. The colors and details in his coat and tail are just so dead on that I can almost smell him. His feet are just right. You nailed it.
Thank you so much, this is a beautiful picture that I will treasure for the rest of my life.
